I am heading south to Mexico following, at the moment the Sierra Cascades Route designed by Adventure cycling. After Cheryl Strayed wrote her book “Wild”, they decided to create a bike route that would follow the Pacific Crest Trail, but on road.
I purchased a Fargo bike last year and moved the Rohloff internal hub over to it. Now looking at converting to carbon belt drive. The guys at Beaufort Cycles (http://beaufortcycles.ca/) have been really helpful. Ryan and Dylan are two of the best mechanics you will find anywhere.
I also have a Shutter Precision dynamo hub, which I use for lighting and in combination with a Sinewave Revolution charger (https://www.sinewavecycles.com/), I can charge a battery pack to recharge my Garmin bike computer and a smartphone.
If anyone is interested in joining for me for part or all of the tour, contact me below.
